Submissions
We are currently accepting submissions!!
1. Submissions are open for our upcoming anthology, ReContos: Era uma vez… de outro jeito. We’re inviting Brazilian authors to reimagine classic children’s stories through a new lens, with narratives informed by child development science, positive education, neuroscience, and attachment theory.

2. Submissions are also open for picture books.
Arteirinha welcomes stories that reflect our mission: creating meaningful books that connect childhood, culture, language, and child-development science.
We receive many submissions and are only able to respond to projects we would like to consider further for publication. Please do not submit the same manuscript more than once unless requested by our editorial team.
If we are interested in your project, you can expect to hear from us within 6 (six) months of submission. If you have not heard from us after six months, it means the manuscript was not selected for further consideration.
2.1. Genre & Audience
We are currently accepting:
-
Picture books for children ages 3–8
-
Suggested manuscript length: up to approximately 1,000 words
-
Manuscripts should be submitted in Portuguese or English. Authors do not need to provide their own translation.
3. What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for stories that children will ask to read again and adults will be happy to do so.
We especially welcome creative, heartfelt stories that reflect Arteirinha’s editorial pillars: child development, Brazilian culture, bilingualism, emotional connection, curiosity, and meaningful childhood experiences.
We are particularly interested in:
-
Child Development & Parenting Insights: Stories inspired by child-development research that can also offer meaningful insights to the adults reading alongside the child.
-
Brazilian Culture & Identity: Stories set in Brazil or celebrating Brazilian culture, traditions, history, folklore, nature, communities, and experiences.
-
Bilingual & Multicultural Childhoods: Stories exploring language, cultural identity, immigration, belonging, or growing up between cultures.
-
Emotions & Relationships: Stories that help children explore emotions, relationships, conflict, boundaries, connection, and empathy.
-
Inclusivity & Diversity: Narratives that authentically represent different cultures, families, identities, abilities, and lived experiences.
-
Imagination & Creativity: Playful, surprising, imaginative stories that invite children to wonder, laugh, explore, and think.
-
Nature & Animals: Stories celebrating animals, ecosystems, the natural world, and environmental awareness.
-
Health & Well-Being: Child-centered stories that explore healthy habits and physical or emotional well-being.
-
Learning Through Story: Stories that naturally introduce concepts and knowledge through engaging narratives rather than feeling primarily instructional.
Above all, we are looking for a great story. Educational or developmental elements should support the narrative rather than overshadow it.
